Manna ~ Building the Body of Christ Martha Kilpatrick Nov 28, 2006
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets and som as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;”
Before we see what it is to equip the saints for the builidng of Christ's Body, let’s see what it is NOT.
Today ministry to the saints is reduced to two empties: social meetings and education. Here are 7 steps for you to ‘do’ and then God will ‘do’ this. Ministry to the saints is reduced to a formula to teach this: how it begins with me and ends with God bowing to my conditions!
Social meetings are where the Lord Jesus is the secondary TOPIC rather that the main Speaker. Experiences and intellectual ideas are the menu and not the revelation of Christ.
The Bible is dissected and not obeyed! It is explained, then reduced from its shock and wonder to a mere document. Truth is presented as easy, simple, and above all: understandable. God is conquerable! And mystery is murdered. . .
Surgical scissors cut out of the picture the very Person of Christ as the Redeemer who ‘does for you.’ It is the removal of divine relationship as unnecessary. You don’t have to wait or listen or grapple or obey a strange assignment. You just have to 'know.' Above all you are not challenged to your heart core nor do you have to die to be possessed by Him. So the cross is carefully excised as well.
With great sorrow I tell you that most of Christianity today murders Christ and demolishes the possibility of Church by the old sins of SELF. . .
With great joy I tell you that Church is possible. Church is alive where Christ and the Cross are the gospel, inseparable and unexpendable.
